About the team
Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work; information, advice and careers guidance; work related learning and work experience to young people in Hertfordshire.
The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention / early help agenda including Hertfordshire County Council's aim of supporting young people to make a successful transition to an economically independent adult life.
The Service delivers targeted prevention and early intervention work to ensure that young people get the help they need early and to reduce the necessity for higher cost specialist intervention.
It enables young people to succeed by providing high quality informal education opportunities to promote their personal and social development.
It supports young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.
About the role
The focus of the work of your teams is with vulnerable and at-risk individuals and groups, ensuring the delivery of preventative work, evidencing outcomes and delivering to targets and contracts.
Responsible for 3 district youth work teams, you will have successful practice and front-line management experience of youth work and a track record of establishing a culture of continuous improvement and achievement through delivering robust and effective performance management.
The Service delivers throughout the week in schools, community venues, young people's centres and projects using a variety of different styles and methods.
About you
Essential:
* Hold a nationally recognised JNC qualification for Youth and Community Workers and evidence of continued professional development.
* Experience in performance management of staff to meet agreed targets, identified outcomes and to ensure the delivery of high-quality youth work.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with young people, adults and other agencies.
* Organisation and effective time management skills with proven ability to meet targets.
* Proven ability to establish and maintain excellent communication with a wide range of stake holders such as partners, young people, parents and colleagues.
* Evidence of incorporating equal opportunities in practice with young people, community, and colleagues.
* Experience of managing a diverse youth work provision across a geographical area, including health and safety and safeguarding
* Ability to assess, prioritise, plan and review your work.
* Ability and experience of identifying and securing funding to enhance youth work projects and programmes.
* Ability and experience of working effectively to achieve clear learning outcomes, targets and meet deadlines.
* Ability to use full range of Microsoft Office applications.
* A full UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle on a regular basis.
