DevOps Engineer Grimsby, UK Competitive Bonus Benefits Permanent full time We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join us to support the Site Reliability Engineering requirements of Payroll Bureau Remote Office Functions. The role is supported by other members of Infrastructure to provide support to internal and client environments as well as working on IT projects. We're looking for a DevOps Engineer with a competent background in specific multi-disciplinary technical environments. This role requires a candidate with experience and expertise in Windows Hyper-V management & administration primarily, with intermediate knowledge of Linux and Kubernetes management. The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing current practices to improve infrastructure quality, uptime, and robustness. Ability to communicate with Cross-Team Engineering and collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as IT and network admins, as well as external suppliers. Responsibilities Manage and Maintain the office Hyper-V (2019) estate. Manage and Maintain (at the backplane level) the Office Kubernetes outfacing Application platform. Manage and Maintain the Windows RDS Session Host Infrastructure. Manage and Maintain backup and restore infrastructure. Maintain and Predict both active disk space consumption/projections and backup volumes. Interface with the Core DevOps team in facilitation both migration processes and best practices Act as a point of escalation and provide technical expertise to other parts of the business. Contribute to the design and execution of Disaster Recovery plans. Monitor system alerts, backups, security, application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs. Knowledge and Experience The role requires strong understanding of at least 3 of the following technologies: Windows Hyper-V (2019) Windows Server Domains Active Directory - add/remove users, assign groups etc. Azure: IAAS, PAAS Kubernetes RDS Session Host, Broker, Gateway etc. Linux Daily Management - add/remove users, assign groups. Some experience at the management layer of MSSQL and MySQL (this is NOT a DBA role, but general management) Networking & Network Security Ability to swap/Replace PSU/Disk (infrequently) on on-prem hardware from a spare part inventory. Must be Self-motivating and self-reliant. Must be willing to share and seek guidance from team members. Must adopt a pro-active style of work, taking responsibility for all local issues/tasks within remit and capability, without automatic referral to line management. Must have empathy with customers (internal and external), with the ability to deal with individuals at all levels both within the organization and externally. Must be able to prioritize workloads within intra-day tasks, and seek weekly planning guidance from DevOps line management. Must support and act as an extension of the wider DevOps team. Who are we?
