The East London Specialist Addiction Service is part of the East London NHS Foundation Trust and provides a full range of drug and alcohol services. We are a clinically-focused service, working in partnership with all patients, service users and their social networks, and with other services to provide strength-based recovery treatment. We invite applications from non-medical prescribers, with current or past experience as an NMP in substance misuse. We welcome non-medical prescribers from all disciplines who seek a rewarding role and wish to work in a multidisciplinary medical team with high standards.
Main duties of the job
1. Delivery of Independent Non-Medical Prescribing (INMP) services in substance misuse substitute therapies and abstinence maintenance
2. Prescribe evidence-based treatments for people with substance misuse dependency (including stabilization, intermediate maintenance and detoxification regimes)
3. Act within competencies to provide other relevant substance misuse treatments for example community alcohol detoxification regimes and vitamin supplementation
4. Support service users to achieve their recovery goals and community re-integration
5. Be a specialist resource for the service team
6. Work with a high degree of autonomy and self-management

1. Titration of complex and non-complex need
2. Carry out drug and alcohol misuse assessments and reviews including assessment of personal strengths and recovery capital, and risks.
3. Carry out clinical assessments and reviews using a variety of consultation and review methods including remote consultations.
4. Carry out clinical work in settings other than the primary workplace, e.g., when working with third sector agencies, when requested.
5. Management and mentorship of clinical staff as required in line with ELFT line management policy and procedures supervision, appraisal, capability assessments.
Occasional management of non-clinical staff as required in line with ELFT line management policy and procedures.

Education/ Qualification/ Training
Essential
1. Relevant primary degree in nursing or pharmacology (or equivalent)
2. Member of the appropriate professional body (NMC, GPhC)
3. Successful completion of short courses to the equivalent of a post graduate certificates or diplomas relevant to seniority
4. Qualification as Independent Non-Medical Prescriber
5. Qualified and prescribing opiate substitute medication in current role without supervision
Experience
Essential
1. Experience in a clinical team in NHS substance misuse, physical health or mental health
2. Post registration experience relevant to primary degree or role
3. Experience of working confidently as an independent prescriber
4. Mentorship and training
5. Clinical audit including audit of prescribing
6. Line management of clinical and/or non clinical staff
7. To provide up to date and accurate medication and prescribing advice
