About the role With 700,000 residents and a range of priorities from recruiting foster carers to fixing our roads, no two days are the same. We’re looking for a media and communications professional to plan, deliver and evaluate communications, majoring on media relations. Able to create compelling content, you'll have press office or media experience, an eye for a story and a grasp of print, broadcast, digital and social media. You will: • Tell the council’s story through proactive media relations – and help run a traditional press desk, managing journalists’ queries and helping to manage the council’s reputation • Deliver social and commercial marketing campaigns • Engage stakeholders, staff and managers • Plan creative design for print, digital, social and video This post is politically restricted therefore the post holder is disqualified from undertaking certain political activities under the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990. About you To apply for this post, you must: Be educated to level 4 or relevant experience Have worked in a press office or media, environment, with print and/or broadcast media Be experienced in spotting reputational risk Understand the role of communications in a big organisation Be able to produce content for different audiences Be able to build strong relationships You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
