We are looking for an experienced and highly qualified Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading international consultancy based in Lancashire. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects from initial design to project completion. As a key member of the team, you will guide project cost control, manage procurement processes, and ensure that all payments and contract changes are validated and approved. In addition to the Quantity Surveying Service we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who can act as a expert witness in our Disputes team with great promotion prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cost Consultancy: Provide expert advice on project costs at every stage, from early design to final handover, ensuring financial accuracy and project feasibility.
* Procurement Strategy: Offer strategic guidance on procurement and contracting, helping to select and hire contractors that deliver value for money.
* Cost Planning and Control: Produce and maintain initial cost plans, monitor budgets, and control expenditures to ensure alignment with project goals.
* Payment Management: Collaborate closely with the contractor’s Quantity Surveyor (QS) to validate and authorise monthly payment claims, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
* Change Control: Approve any variations or changes to the original contract price, ensuring all adjustments are in line with financial and contractual agreements.
* Site Visits: Conduct site visits approximately once a week to review project progress and assess cost impacts on site.
* Act as expert witness for clients on different types of construction disputes
Qualifications and Experience:
* Chartered status with RICS or a similar professional body preferred for the Expert Witness work.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience in a PQS or Senior Quantity Surveyor role, with a focus on a wide range of projects
* Strong expertise in cost control, contract management, and procurement.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Should have minimum 10 years’ experience in the UK construction industry.
