Within the SU team, the Energy Market Consulting (EMC) team supports our clients with energy procurement, risk management and budgeting as well as carry out energy consulting projects on various topics. We are recruiting for an experienced and driven Energy Risk Manager to join our Energy Market Consulting team. This is an unrivalled opportunity to craft Siemens' approach to this new business field, providing in-depth insight into selected energy markets and regulations to provide value either within assigned consulting projects or in the frame of the solution design for SU projects and corresponding business models and value propositions - from an energy and sustainability perspective. The Energy Risk Manager will support our existing clients manage energy price risk through delivery of successful risk management and hedging strategies in line with their chosen purchasing strategies across multiple European gas & power markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of European gas & power wholesale markets and their drivers, being able to identify and summarise market trends and provide an outlook for future price direction. Experience in energy procurement and risk management for large I&C customers is essential. Key responsibilities include: • Develop energy purchasing and risk management strategies and advise clients on gas and power purchases aligned with each client's risk appetite and execute trades on their behalf. • Track and record all trades and/or recommendations to clients, ensuring fixed positions are always up to date and are auditable. • Develop and maintain a range of reports to demonstrate the performance of each risk programme against pre-defined metrics, such as savings vs budget, year-over-year savings, cost avoidance vs market outturn, etc. • Conduct periodic client calls and send regular reports to clients to keep them informed of wholesale market movements and trends, indicating the impact on their current and future positions. • Maintain a knowledge base across all relevant European and Global energy markets. • Report on risk management successes to promote business both internally and externally. • Support new business sales activities (presentations, visits, calls or tender information). • Support renewal activity to facilitate customer retention or up-sell opportunities (visits, calls, tender info). Skills and Experience to bring to the role: • Experience of working with flexible energy products and services. • Knowledge of risk management principles in relation to flexible energy purchasing. • Knowledge of European wholesale gas & power markets and their drivers (e.g. UK, DE, FR, NL & PL). • Ability to deliver results whilst managing differences in expectations from clients, suppliers and colleagues. • Ability to collate and analyse data from various platforms and sources, using the outputs to inform decisions and make recommendations to enhance our service offering. • In-depth understanding of the energy industry and the role of a Third-Party Intermediary (TPI) in the context of delivering products and services for customers. • Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements, their structures and contracting arrangements. • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. • Exceptional attention to detail and quality in your work. • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 products and applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. • Ability to speak one or two additional European languages (German, French, Dutch, Polish, etc.) is desirable, but not essential.
