Our brand grew quickly, and we now have a strong wholesale and e-commerce business which is continuing to grow. Surfanic also has a strong OEM customer base, and we are looking for a part-time merchandiser to work across both area’s of our business. Primary objective of the job: We are currently seeking a talented Garment Technologist, ideally with experience with technical outerwear ( training possible for the right candidate) to take responsibility for and management of all aspects of fit and quality assurance, from prototype through to final delivery. This will require a comprehensive understanding of supply chain, leading to effective communication and negotiation to ensure the performance of the product meets the requirements of the brand. What you’ll be doing: Liaising with in house designers to ensure garments are developed on time and to expectations. Working closely with OEM customers to ensure the critical path is followed strictly for their orders, ensuring approval samples are made to specification and all testing criteria is followed. Working closely with our long-term suppliers to ensure all styles are manufactured to standard. Establish a working link with our Chinese team who will aid your communication with suppliers. Working with fit models to ensure all approval samples and bulk production are measuring to specifications. Chasing designers and OEM customers for timely comments on approval samples. Working with suppliers via conference call links Travelling to the Far East to meet suppliers, follow up on orders and develop products. What you’ll need: Previous experience of technical outerwear is preferable. Knowledge of garment construction, fit, quality and wash/care instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills, ability to communicate and build relationships with all levels of the business is essential. Good to understand sustainability systems and able to provide customers with sustainable garment production advice.
