The main responsibility of the Technical Solutions Engineer is to develop concept designs in line with a customer enquiry. This position will include estimating costs for the enquiry and writing a proposal to support the final solution. There will be elements of customer correspondence and meetings both in-house, via virtual communication, and/or on-site visits.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering concept designs to support the technical solution for all enquiries.
2. Support the project team with developing costs for project variations when required.
3. Assist the Technical Solutions team with larger commercial projects as part of a team.
4. Attend customer meetings (via virtual methods or on-site) to determine the scope of the project and review RFQ.
5. Correspond with customers to clarify any questions about potential projects, enquiries, or RFQs, including project dates or any other issues that could affect the project costs and delivery.
6. Develop concept designs (layout and equipment) for small commercial projects to be used for estimating costs and included in the sales proposal.
7. Develop concept layout designs for larger commercial projects (2D and/or 3D) to be used for estimating costs and included in the sales proposals.
8. Have a complete understanding of customer requirements to complete concept designs.
9. Have a complete understanding of product flow and how to apply it to concept design.
10. Have an understanding of equipment requirements and how to apply them to concept design.
11. Consult with internal departments & management before and during the concept design process.
12. Knowledge of standard and bespoke equipment to be used within the concept design.
13. Estimate engineering costs and hours.
14. Estimate project management and project engineering costs and hours.
15. Estimate project costs including site plant, freight, accommodation, travel, etc.
16. Develop a high-level timing plan to meet customer requirements and capacity planning.
