About the Role:
My client are looking for a highly skilled Fire and Security Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of various fire and security systems, including fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and emergency lighting. You will work across a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial sites, ensuring all systems are compliant with relevant standards and providing outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, commission, and maintain fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and emergency lighting systems.
2. Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on fire and security systems.
3. Diagnose and repair system faults and issues, ensuring quick and efficient resolution.
4. Conduct site surveys and risk assessments to recommend appropriate fire and security solutions.
5. Ensure all work complies with British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS EN 50131, BS 5266) and other industry regulations.
6. Provide technical support and training to clients on the use and maintenance of their systems.
7. Prepare and maintain accurate service reports, maintenance logs, and certification records.
8. Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality service and build strong client relationships.
9. Participate in an on-call rota for emergency support and assistance.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Proven experience as a Fire and Security Engineer or a similar role, with expertise in fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and emergency lighting systems.
2. Strong technical knowledge of fire and security systems from various manufacturers.
3. Proficiency in fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs.
4. Familiarity with current British Standards and industry regulations.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
8. Full UK driving license is essential.
Desirable:
1. Relevant certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE, NSI, or SSAIB).
2. Experience with IP-based and networked security systems.
3. Knowledge of integrated fire and security systems.
4. ECS/CSCS card or equivalent safety certification.

1. Salary: £36,000 - £42,000 Basic DOE
