What you'll be doing
As Resource Manager you will have the following key responsibilities:
* To ensure the effective and timely deployment of resource to all Scotland based operational project teams.
* To support current and future projects for Power T&D in the OHL, Substations and Cabling disciplines, by managing against accurate resourcing schedules that enable strategic resourcing plans to be accomplished in line with the business requirements.
* Have full awareness of movements and plans for monthly paid staff and operatives to projects.
* Support development of staff through our tools and processes.
* Ensure Scotland resource demands and requirements are met through detailed resource growth plans.
* Liaise with Power T&D Operational teams and individual Resource Managers to ensure all resource is planned and in place.
* Supporting the movement of resources from project to project.
* Support individual resource managers with engagement of subcontract labour suppliers to plan and meet resource requirements.
* Proactively engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders to ensure that resource needs are planned and met.
* Effectively communicate with individual resource managers & co-ordinators on day to day movements and long term plans to ensure collaboration in resource deployment.
* Ensure all resource deployment is within governance of the Power T&D Business Gated Lifecycle.
* Carry out communications with senior operation leads to ensure compliance against resource requests and needs.
* Engage with our Subcontractors to ensure they have scope of work, durations, volumes and orders in place prior to starting work.
* Be the point of contact for senior operation leads on any resource issues within Scotland.
* Produce and present effective Management Information to show resource related data.
* Manage any individuals within the reporting line to support the facilitation of the above responsibilities.
* Any other duty deemed necessary by line manager.
Who we're looking for
Essential Skills Required:
* Excellent planning skills, familiar with project management techniques and applications.
* Strong presentation skills, in creating MI via presentations for exec updates.
* Ability to manage multiple resource managers across multiple disciplines (OHL, Cabling, Substations).
* Ability to gather detailed resource information across Scotland via individual resource managers.
* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in both the operations and business support functions.
* Power activity technical knowledge.
* High tolerance for ambiguity and changing priorities and the ability to plan for contingencies and manage conflicting stakeholder priorities.
* Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to consult with a wide range of people at different levels.
* Must have strong IT Skills, literate in all Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
* Ability to leverage resources to address business challenges.
Desirable:
* Experienced in resource planning and deployment across a multi-site environment, ideally within the power utilities industry.
* Experience in performance managing/mentoring team members.
