Vacancy - Assistant Group Management Accountant
Are you a recent graduate or someone already in their first management accounting role who wants to join a highly regarded finance team at one of the UKs largest companies, and be supported in their career development and progression towards CIMA qualification? Are you seeking a role in which you can support divisional finance colleagues with their management accounting, budgeting and forecasting? We are seeking an Assistant Group Management Accountant to join our team at the Port of Liverpool and help us keep the world moving!
Your role
From day one, you will be an important member of a team of nine talented management accountants of all levels providing centralised management accounting support to the Groups port businesses, preparing monthly management accounts journals and analyses and working directly with divisional and other colleagues. With support and coaching from within the Group Management Accounts Team, you will undertake financial analysis to support/drive the commercial objectives of the business. Participating in ad-hoc projects designed to support commercial and other initiatives, you will also provide assistance with continuous improvement projects when required.
You will support divisional departmental managers in managing their financial budgets and quarterly reforecasts, whilst also supporting operational teams in producing financial reports and associated analyses, exceptions reporting, reporting trends and performance indicators.
As part of a team, the role benefits from the coaching and training provided by other colleagues who have similarly developed their skills and knowledge and who have either already passed or who are currently studying towards their CIMA qualification. This is a role where the team you will be part of, and the company, actively want to support you to achieve your professional CIMA accounting qualification.
What you'll bring
You will be qualified to degree level (minimum 2:1) in a relevant discipline, AAT or Certificate Level CIMA, or an equivalent qualification with a desire to attain full CIMA qualification. Previous management accounting experience would be advantageous, though this is not essential.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation. You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships. You will show a willingness and desire to learn and develop your skills and knowledge, working towards full CIMA qualification as part of the role.
As the role includes working to deadlines, as well as combining CIMA study and work commitments, you will be well organised and able to manage time effectively to meet multiple deadlines. This will often require a proactive approach to managing responsibilities.
