We are launching a Walsall House Project and have an exciting opportunity for a House Project Lead. The National House Project is an innovative way of supporting care leavers to take control of their transition to independent living. This new and exciting project, will work intensively with approximately 10 children in care at any one time, to enable them to develop their own House Project, prepare them for independence and support them to secure their own long-term tenancy and maintain an Education, Employment and Training (EET) pathway. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, experienced individual, who has the appropriate skills to be part of the team. You should have experience of working directly with children and young people in a social care, experience of working closely with other agencies and professionals (statutory and voluntary) and be able to demonstrate highly developed communication and influencing skills in a variety of contexts with young people. The successful candidate will lead the project and provide ongoing support to young people who graduate from the House Project. They will help appoint, develop, supervise and manage the team of staff who will work with young people in a cooperative and co-productive manner. They will need to keep to the principles and objectives of the National House Project Framework at all times, and will work with the National House Project organisation in order to fulfil our aim. They will be required to work in partnership with all functions in Children's Social Care, corporate parents, relevant partners and members of the wider corporate family and to further develop joint working in order for our children in care to aspire to be the best that they can be. The successful candidate will also be the Registered Manager for the House Project in Walsall and will undertake the role and responsibilities as required by Ofsted. We are looking for a social worker that: Is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people leaving care. Has a good knowledge and understanding of corporate parenting duties in relation to children in care. Is confident and competent to negotiate with and influence others, build and nurture effective partnerships, working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the Local Authority, community, parent and voluntary organisations and promoting opportunities for co-production. Is confident and can offer training, advice and guidance to staff throughout the organisation and to partner agencies as the social care lead for the Walsall National House project.
