The Trust is expanding its property portfolio as an integrated Health Care provider and as a result, a full-time vacancy has arisen within the Estates Department for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical/Plumber). The Estates Team provides planned and reactive maintenance and emergency call-out services 24/7, 365 days a year to 96 buildings across Nottinghamshire.

Main duties of the job
Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides a planned, preventative and responsive repairs service to ensure that the facilities within an NHS facility are maintained to an excellent standard. In the role of Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical/Plumber), you will undertake works including reactive and PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance). Works could include leak detection/repair, replacement pipeworks, water temperature checks, plant room/boiler room checks, flushing, servicing and/or replacement of thermostatic mixer valves, water sampling and much more.
The role provides a very diverse range of activities and as such will provide a great opportunity to use a wide range of skills. The role covers all sites serviced by our Estates Team and you will be provided with a Trust vehicle and stock to carry out your duties.
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. There is also the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota which provides potential for additional earnings.
Applicants should demonstrate previous plumbing experience, gained ideally with a maintenance team within a Healthcare environment. However, candidates with experience gained within a commercial setting (hotels, shops and schools etc) will also be considered, subject to the demonstration of strong transferable skills. You should be able to demonstrate strong plumbing skills along with ideally an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in plumbing.
Job responsibilities
As a plumber in the NHS, your work includes:
* planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
* reactive maintenance
* knowledge of Building Management Systems
* testing equipment and systems
* improvements and installations
* training and development
* all aspects of plumbing, drainage and heating work including fault finding
Applicants must have relevant mechanical qualifications and/or relevant experience in a maintenance environment and the ability to work across other trades.
On appointment, you will attend a five-day mechanical to electrical conversion training course enabling you to work across both mechanical and electrical disciplines. You may be requested to participate in the on-call rota for out of hours emergencies, covering all properties maintained by the Trust, which will attract a retainer payment and overtime.
Operating as a mobile Multiskilled Maintenance Technician, you will receive your work on a handheld device from the Estates and Facilities Help Desk and Team Leader. You will be expected to organise your daily workload ensuring you complete the tasks in the given priorities and have the ability to work unsupervised using own professional knowledge, experience and training.
You'll often work alongside other estates services staff assisting to ensure all mechanical systems, equipment and plant are statutory compliant keeping the Estates Management Team informed of all noncompliance issues and any potential risks identified. You will be working hands on and provide professional and technical advice to other Estates and Facilities staff, Trust Capital staff and contractors. You will be expected to work at any of the Trust premises.
A full UK driving licence is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications
* Completed craft apprenticeship or recognised training with significant experience
* City and Guilds or equivalent advanced craft certificate in appropriate discipline
* Health and Safety Certificate
* Advanced Health and Safety Certificate
Training
* ACS training for Gas equipment
* First Aid
Contractual Requirements
* Full UK driving license for driving Trust vehicles
* Participate in the Out of Hours On Call Rota
Skills
* IT skills, use of mobile devices used in conjunction with the delivery of estates maintenance
* Good communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of authority

Physical requirements
* Capable of climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights and in confined spaces.
