We are seeking an experienced self-motivated, hardworking person who works to a high professional standard and is used to working on their own initiative to join the Adult Diabetes service at St James University Hospital.
The post holder will be responsible for collating and producing data for the whole of the Adults Diabetes Service for inputting into multiple National Diabetes Audits.
This post is a 12 month fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Adult Diabetes Team and be the point of contact for any collation of data for this service.
You will be responsible for all aspects of data management, ensuring the timescales are met and adhered to accordingly, whilst managing a database for our current patient cohort.
Regular communication is key and updates on the retrieval of information for any data vital.

Main duties of the job
To provide accurate entry of patient data into the Diabetes National Audits and to monitor the quality and performance of the Diabetes Service, as well as ensuring the appropriate funding of the Service by NHS England by efficient data management service for both clinical and management purposes to support the Directorate.
Responsible for the input of data into the Diabetes National Audits and to provide information on new patient referrals, their demographic details, GP, Consultant, disease category and treatment. All this data is used to provide information for Contracting purposes.
Job responsibilities
Organise and run contracting information for Diabetes each month.
Ensuring data quality by liaising with health professionals providing data.
Cross-checking data with other sources and using agreed data, liaise with health care professionals as necessary, to ensure high quality data and that their information needs are met.
To service and maintain standards within the clinical annotations held on the main server and to liaise with secretarial services to achieve this.
To provide information and practical support for various hospital services requiring the skills of computing facilities.
To extract information from patient medical records and other sources and to use this to input data onto a patient research database as required by Consultants and other patient carers.
To provide support to the Clinical team with the systems based throughout the trust.
To assist in development of databases for clinical and managerial purposes, following appropriate Trust IT protocols.
To provide information reports for health professionals and managers, on a routine and ad hoc basis.
Person Specification
Experience
* Understanding of the need for high quality data.
* Methodologies of data validation.
* An understanding of the workings of Trust systems and their interaction.
* Expertise in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word) in order to manipulate data, by building databases and designing and running queries to obtain reports from these.
* Understanding of cancer care/management.
* Medical Terminology.

* Willingness to develop the remit of the post and learn new skills.
Skills and Behaviours
* A flexible style of working.
* The ability to work to tight deadlines. Good organisation skills and the ability to prioritise.

* GCSE English Language and Maths.
* Training in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word.
