The Deputy Director Transformation Portfolio drives the strategic direction, delivery, and transformation of the organisation’s corporate portfolio. You will be accountable for providing the strategic leadership of the corporate change and transformation portfolio office. This includes the vision and strategy setting and ensuring the effective running of the transformation portfolio office.
You will manage the business on best practice for developing business cases, transformation funding bids and evolved ways of working, delivering these centrally where it makes sense to do so.
You will ensure that transformation initiatives align with organisational goals and will drive operational efficiency and effectiveness through ownership of the corporate portfolio management approach for the organisation, delivered through nested Directorate and Functional Portfolios, Programmes and Projects.
This role is also responsible for establishing and managing a Centre of Excellence for Change Management, and Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management (P3M).
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity help during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to help you with your incident role.
The role location is nationally flexible, with a requirement for some national travel. You may be required to work in EA offices and attend national meetings, possibly with some overnight stays. You'll understand and be comfortable with the challenges of remote working and management.
The Team
As the change centre of excellence, we’re dedicated to managing the EA's digitally led approach to transformation and providing assurance of other organisational portfolios with precision and insight.
We provide strategic leadership and direction, defining the scope and role of transformation within the EA. Our team is at the forefront of data and information management, digital innovation, transformation, and portfolio management. We ensure our transformation efforts align with the digital requirements of a modern organisation.
Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement the transformation strategy to support organisational objectives. Day to day, ensuring the corporate transformation portfolio oversees the highest risk and priority change projects and leading teams working to remove impediments to transformative change including increasing agility in funding, governance, business case development and resourcing.
Change Management : Establish and lead the Centre of Excellence for Change Management to drive effective change initiatives. Establish a clear corporate view of the change landscape and the processes for change control for the organisation to follow.
Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management (P3M): Establish and manage the Centre of Excellence for P3M to ensure best practices and successful delivery of projects and programmes. Day to day, ensure that nested Directorate Portfolios are operating to consistent standards and following common practices to ensure delivery outcomes and risks are managed at the most appropriate level.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote transformation initiatives and ensure alignment with broader organisational goals, cocreating delivery of new approaches to transformational change.
Team Leadership and Development – lead, mentor, and develop the transformation teams in portfolio delivery, change and continuous improvement to build capability and drive performance. The team are based on multiple sites around the country.
