We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a housing association that specialises in providing accessible and adaptable homes, for a Solicitor on a Permanent basis.
This is a full-time role totalling 37hrs per week and paying £50k per annum. This role is hybrid and will require two days in the office each week based in Berkshire. Applicants will need to hold a law degree or comparable legal qualification with a minimum of 3 years relevant PQE and will be a practising solicitor.
Day to day duties will include:
1. Provide expert legal advice on housing matters, including disrepair claims under the Housing Disrepair Protocol, possession claims, tenancy breaches, and anti-social behaviour cases.
2. Manage property disrepair cases autonomously, ensuring timely property works and minimizing costs and compensation.
3. Prepare and progress applications and claims through to settlement or court, including drafting correspondence, witness statements, and court applications.
4. Represent the organization at county court, conduct advocacy, and liaise with Counsel for complex cases.
5. Provide strategic advice to senior management and the Board on claims and risk management.
6. Handle a broad spectrum of housing matters, such as tenancy succession, rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and service charge disputes.
7. Manage all aspects of legal and procedural work in these cases.
8. Support development and asset management teams with legal expertise in plot sales, home ownership, and building safety.
9. Provide legal and project support on cross-departmental cases, collaborating with external solicitors as needed.
10. Promote best practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
About you:
* Qualifications: Qualified solicitor with professional registration with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
* Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of housing law, court procedures, Civil Procedure Rules, and case law.
* Experience: Proven ability to handle property disrepair cases and broader housing matters autonomously.
* Skills: Strong communication, advocacy, and project management skills.
* Commitment: Dedicated to professional development and maintaining SRA registration through CPD.
