As the Financial Controller – Audit & Tax for G’s Group in the UK, you will play a critical role in the year-end close process and ensuring financial records are accurate, compliant, and ready for review by external auditors, tax liabilities are optimised and managing tax risks.
As a Financial Controller – Audit & Tax, you will:
* Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors, facilitating open communication and timely response to queries.
* Collaborate with external auditors to plan the audit timeline, scope, and deliverables.
* Prepare year-end accounts preparation and audit timetable collaborating with all stakeholders and manage delivery.
* Co-ordinate with internal resource to ensure all relevant information and documentation is prepared in advance.
* Ensure year-end closing activities and consolidations are completed accurately and on-time and that working papers are provided, and full systems notes are developed to support the year-end and accounts preparation process.
* Prepare, review, and finalise financial statements, ensuring they comply with UK GAAP.
* Report audit findings, the auditors’ planning reports, and management responses to each audit committee meeting and seek assurance that agreed actions are followed through escalating as required where assurance is not obtained.
* Design, implement, monitor, and regularly review internal controls and processes, relating to audit and tax to mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulation and to prevent fraud.
* Identify and mitigate tax risks by implementing best practice and procedures, to achieve “low risk” status in HMRC’s BRR+ system.
* Conduct regular reviews of tax processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the wider finance community to share best practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the finance service.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders including overseas and specifically with the Spanish Finance team.
Candidate Requirements
Our ideal candidate will be a qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with technical experience in practice and in industry. They will be a self-starter with the ability to demonstrate excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with an aptitude for technical problem-solving and an attention to detail.
Experience working in a fast-paced, complex commercial environment along with an excellent, detailed understanding of accounting standards, auditing standards and processes, corporate taxation, and VAT, and HMRC’s risk management expectations and an appetite to ensure continuous learning and technical update as requirements change.
