We are seeking a volunteer to join our Community Moorings team as assistant secretary. This role is crucial to the smooth running of the charity and provides an opportunity to make a significant contribution to our community.
Community Moorings owns two acres of land next to the Union Canal near Linlithgow. We rent out moorings to canal boaters and are developing our land to benefit both canal boat users and the local community. We plan to grow vegetables, sell them, and donate to food banks, as well as organize community events.
Some examples of Key Responsibilities:
1. Minute Taking:
- Accurately record minutes of Community Moorings Scotland meetings (committee meetings, AGM).
- Distribute minutes to all attendees and archive them securely.
- Draft and send letters, emails, and other correspondence as directed by the Chair or Committee.
- Respond to inquiries from members and the public in a timely and professional manner.
2. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of charity membership, finances, and other relevant information.
- Assist with the preparation of annual reports and other statutory documents.
3. Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the Chair and Committee as needed, including scheduling meetings, booking venues, and preparing agendas.
- Assist with the organisation of charity events and fundraising activities.
Time Commitment:
- Typically, a few hours per week.
Experience required:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
