Cost Manager/ Senior Cost Manager
Salary brackets:
QS level - £40,000 - £60,000 (depending on location/ experience)
Senior QS level - £55,000 - £75,000 (depending on location/ experience)
We are looking for talented Cost Managers/Quantity Surveyors and Senior Cost Managers/Senior Quantity Surveyors to join a leading construction consultancy, delivering Cost Management Services on major capital infrastructure projects and programmes across the UK.
These roles offer the opportunity to work on an exciting variety of projects, ranging in scale, budget, and complexity, with durations from a month to several years and budgets from thousands to tens of millions of pounds.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
* Accurately monitor, forecast, and report project costs to ensure budgets are adhered to.
* Proactively manage cost variances, contract cash flows, and timely applications in line with contract conditions.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver on project objectives, including cost control, programme performance, value engineering, and risk management.
* Effectively manage contract changes and ensure compliance with governance procedures.
* Drive improvements in the accuracy of forecasting, budgeting, and final account closure.
* Provide sound commercial advice and technical knowledge throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience in cost management, ideally in the infrastructure sector (Rail, Utilities, Highways, Aviation, Energy)
* Familiarity with cost management systems and processes on major programmes.
* Strong knowledge of the NEC3 form of contract (Options A, C, and E).
* Understanding of risk management and construction techniques.
* Degree-qualified in a relevant field (or equivalent).
* Ideally hold or be working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS).
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
* Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
* A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
