Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon with special interest in Burns (NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant) - Burns Care - Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust
Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust – West Midlands
Applications are invited for a Consultant Burn Surgeon. The post has arisen due to the need to expand services to cope with the increasing demand.
The Post holder will join a team of surgeons who provide the service in both the paediatric and adult burn centres of the Midlands. This single team currently works across two sites and applications are welcome from surgeons with either paediatric surgery, plastic surgery or trauma as their primary discipline.
The post holders will be expected to take part in the delivery and development of clinical services within the Trust’s Service and Financial Framework and in line with the Trust’s clinical strategy. They will also participate in the activities of appropriate Departmental, Directorate or Trust Committees and Working Groups as required.
The post holder will be based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. It is a full-time 10PA job; however, less than full time is acceptable. The successful applicants would also be expected to participate in a 1:6 on-call rota covering both the pediatric burns center at Birmingham Children's Hospital and the adult burns center at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The appointee will join the burn surgery team and will have the opportunity to develop an interest in an area of general plastic surgery and/or laser therapy, along with their commitment to the burns service. It would be expected that the major responsibilities of the posts are to the burns service (paediatric and adult if appropriate). These posts would be suitable for candidates who have completed higher surgical training who have a more specialist interest in the management of burns. An honorary contract will be sought for the successful candidates to allow regular sessions to be worked in the Adult Burn Centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
