Employee working groups The role… We are currently recruiting an Senior Building Surveyor to join our Cambridge office. The role will involve project and professional consultancy to both public and private sector clients. To undertake inspections, preparation of specifications, contract administration as well as dilapidations matters, defect diagnosis, party wall matters within a team structure. To work closely with the team lead associate in resource, finance and business development planning. Business Development of particular interest by supporting team in generating new business. Mentoring junior team members and assisting with their APC progression to professional qualification. We may consider Associate level depending on candidate’s experience. Act as building surveyor on a variety of project and professional services projects from inception to completion, liaising with team members and others as necessary. Autonomy to develop business and deliver services in a variety of sectors including commercial, healthcare, residential block management and defence. Manage similar works undertaken by junior colleagues to ensure quality and timeliness of service provided to clients and act as the point of contact for Ingleton Wood. Manage own workload and report to team lead and office Partner on financial forecasting and progress of commissions. Continually improve own profitability by managing time and resources allocated to projects and by ensuring that time spent on projects is recorded and that fee invoicing is carried out at appropriate stages. To monitor and report the same against target. Have a clear understanding of client expectations including their aims for the development of the brief. Liaise with other consultants, internal and external, to ensure fully integrated production of documentation for the work. Liaise with all necessary authorities in relation to the work. Attend site for meetings to understand and clearly define clients’ expectations to provide advice, keep them informed of progress and make them aware of technical and financial implications. Market the services and the Practice to new and existing clients in order to increase workload. Prepare and contribute toward fee bids relevant to building surveying and multi-disciplinary projects. Essential skills, experience, and attributes… Good standard of academic qualification and education. MRICS or MAPM qualification. Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience. Enthusiasm to network, promote the practice as well as winning and retaining clients. Strong commercial attitude and with aspirations for progression and a desire to succeed.
