You will work closely with the customer and internal teams to deliver a solution that meets the customers business requirements. With support from SMEs, configure and implement the agreed solution within the software application.

Application Engineer - Skills and Experience
Good proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Good customer facing skills
Ability to work independently
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented, consistently takes a thorough, accurate, organised approach.
Ability to prioritise tasks with competing priorities to ensure that deadlines are met
Experience with EDI integration, including one or more of XML, JSON, EDIFACT and X12 message formats
Experience of using scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Bash, Velocity
Desirable Skills
Experience of creating documents using HTML
Experience of writing SQL queries for Oracle/MSSQL databases
Experience with Altova MapForce, or similar software, for data transformation
Knowledge of Linux OS and basic commands
Previous experience providing technical support or configuration for bespoke software applications
Project Management
Application Engineer - Key Responsibilities
Develop an in-depth understanding of the application
Configure the application for new customers based on provided business requirements
Create customised data outputs and documents using Velocity scripting and HTML
Configure the application integration layer to correct validate, translate and deliver inbound and outbound electronic messages in a variety of formats
Assist in the integration of the application with other systems used by the customers
Test the configured solution to confirm that it meets the business requirements and create test plans
Liaise with the test and development teams for new functionality requests or resolution of application bugs
Create supporting documentation for the configured application
Provide training to the customer, and other internal departments, regarding the use of the application
Support the customer with the UAT process
Provide onsite support during the transfer of the application to production, and provide hyper care support in the immediate period after go-live and prior to the transition to Business as Usual
Keep up to date with internal training and new application functionality
Support the Project Manager with the administration of the project and participate in project meetings
