Main Duties of the Job
As a clerk typist in the AKU department, your role will be to support and liaise with the department's multidisciplinary team, working closely alongside the patient coordinator.
The clerk typist will type dictations from audio transcription of clinical correspondence and documentation, including writing reports following NAC week. The clerk/typist will perform various office duties such as photocopying, faxing, outgoing post, and retrieving case notes. Good telephone communication skills are required, acting in a professional manner.
The clerk/typist will liaise and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team and will be able to problem solve. The successful candidate will be involved in NAC week and will be expected to be on hand to answer any patient queries, liaising with relevant team members. The post holder will chaperone patients to and from assessments (this may include going off site with a patient to one of our four locations around Liverpool).
Flexibility of working times is essential during NAC week.
The post holder will prepare prescriptions to send to the medical team for signing, as well as preparing visit letters and pre-visit documentation to send out to patients. The successful candidate will be expected to attend appropriate training and education sessions when required.
The candidate will work with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to deliver the best experience possible for our patients.

The post holder will maintain the centre's documentation to ensure patient information leaflets are kept up to date.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE/O Level standard/equivalent
* RSA/OCR Level I or equivalent
* Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience
* Excellent I.T. skills with knowledge and experience of all Microsoft Office packages
* Experience of office procedures
* Previous experience within NHS
Skills/Ability/Knowledge
* Able to use own initiative and manage/prioritise own workload
* Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
* Ability to accurately maintain computerized and manual filing/documentation systems
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Knowledge of internal PAS system
* Ability and willingness to undertake further training as required

* Understanding of the confidential nature of the role and awareness of the Data Protection Act
