Job Title: Deputy Care Home Manager
Location: 6 bedded Children's Home
Client Group: ESBD/ASD Children and Young People
Hours: 40 per week (based on a 4-week rota)
Flexibility is essential as this will involve some weekends/evenings.
Essential Qualifications:
* Completed a Level 5 Qualification (CYP) or QCF 4
* Proven track record in working within the residential child care sector
* A clean UK Drivers Licence
* IT competent with good recording and reporting skills
Experience:
* 2 - 5 years management experience in residential childcare
Knowledge:
* Sound knowledge of RISCA Regulations, CIW judgments, Safeguarding protocols, quality assurance, monitoring and review systems
Job Purpose:
As a Deputy Manager with SICS GOFAL CYMRU CYF, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, therapeutic residential care for children who have faced significant levels of trauma. You'll foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes healing, resilience, and personal growth, where each child feels valued and secure.
In this role, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to uphold the highest standards of care, in line with our Statement of Purpose and trauma-informed principles. Your leadership will drive positive practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of compassion and accountability. You'll empower both staff and young people, oversee care plans, and provide guidance that builds a cohesive, supportive team environment.

Outline Of Duties:
1. Support the Registered Manager in ensuring a high quality of care service is delivered and maintained effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
2. Work in accordance with SICS own care standards and support colleagues to apply them to their own practice.
3. Support & develop care workers to manage residential care workers effectively, including staff supervision and performance management.
4. Organise staff rotas as advised by the Registered Manager.
5. Ensure staff understand and are fully aware of the daily routines of the home.
6. Work within organisational policy and procedure established in the home.
7. Ensure all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to the Children’s Home Regulations for Wales (RISCA).
8. Ensure all staff are made aware of all relevant legislation.
9. Ensure children’s reviews and meetings are delivered within the required time scales.
10. Ensure both local authority and internal care and placement plans are in place and understood by staff.
11. Chair or participate in meetings and reviews as required.
12. Uphold the standards expected in the delivery of care and maintain the standing of the organisation.
13. Take the lead in creating an open culture where children can complain and are listened to.
14. Ensure all staff work within a non-discriminatory environment.
15. Assist the Registered Manager in the administration of financial-related issues.
16. Participate in training programmes relevant to staff working in children services, ensuring all staff complete and return training certificates and feedback forms.
17. Deputise in the absence of the manager and cover for team leaders as necessary.
18. Ensure staff understand the role of a key worker and monitor the quality of work being delivered.
19. Promote and encourage the professional development of staff.
20. Ensure administrative requirements of the home are maintained in compliance with good childcare practice and regulations.
21. Ensure staff deliver support for the life chance opportunities of the young people.
22. Produce, coordinate and edit reports.
23. Contribute to the on-call system.
24. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
25. Be involved in the staff recruitment process where required.
