Us Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading local charity working towards a county rich in wildlife. With the support of our volunteers and members we manage over 3,000 acres of land for wildlife and people across Worcestershire. We work with organisations and landowners to protect and connect wildlife sites across the county. We also work with and inspire local communities and young people to care for wildlife where they live. We are one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK. We’re Wild About Inclusion. It also means cultivating inclusive workspaces that are free from discrimination, where differences are valued, everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature The project The project began in 2022 and is on track to successfully conclude the engagement and ecological elements. A lot has happened - nearly 4000 trees have been planted and extensive fencing and gating work has been installed to protect and enhance the new areas for wildlife. We have built great links with the local community and schools who have not only been instrumental in helping with the habitat creation work but have also taken action to help wildlife in their local areas. For the remaining six months of the project, the new officer will continue to lead on the great work that has already been achieved, completing the delivery of the events and activites that are to take place and support the final monitoring and evaluation work. Monkwood nature reserve is a semi-ancient woodland owned by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and managed in partnership with Butterfly Conservation, with whom we co-own Little Monkwood. This project is enabling us to expand, connect and protect Monkwood for the first time in over 300 years through purchasing land to the immediate west of Monkwood at Green Farm. This has been made possible due to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Severn Waste Services, The Bannister Charitable Trust, L G Harris Charitable Trust, 3DTotal.com and generous private donations from many members and supporters of our work. Some evening and regular weekend working will be required, a full driving licence is essential. This is 0.6 FTE/21 hours per week position on a six month fixed term contract. The role will be largely based at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, Lower Smite Farm, Hindlip, Worcester WR3 8SZ with regular travel to Green Farm adjacent to Monkwood Nature Reserve to the north of Worcester.
