National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Performance Manager to join our Performance Team within Operations. The Performance Manager is responsible for managing resources to provide data analysis/modelling, reporting in line with our assurance framework, creation of materials to provide insight to make recommendations and drive improvements to support our investment and decision making in Operations.
Our work ensures that we monitor many aspects of Operations performance, engaging with our regional colleagues, senior leaders and external stake holders to drive business change. You will play an integral part in this providing insight, knowledge and reporting to support these engagements.
What you'll be leading on
* Managing analysts/administrators ensuring efficient use of resources, reduction of duplication and minimised single points of failure whilst fostering a culture that promotes high performance.
* Reporting on KPIs/PIs/IPs and other business measures on a cyclical basis - weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually - for both senior management, operational staff and external regulatory bodies (ORR, DfT, Transport Focus, etc) covering all areas of Performance within Operations.
* Providing recommendations to senior leaders to improve performance/efficiencies and focus resources in most critical areas, ensuring that they are receiving the appropriate level of support and information to inform decision making both, including supporting adhoc requests for information/analysis.
* Ensure that performance data provides "One version of the truth", providing data/insight/tools that enables senior managers and colleagues in Operations/the wider company to understand business performance strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and develop action plans to drive change.
* Drive an environment of continuous improvement, actively building and maintaining relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge and apply proactive interventions to optimise Operations performance, via deep dive / data validation exercises.

* Strong line management experience, including staff development.
* Track record in delivering improvements in performance, process, insight and embedding change/continuous improvement to achieve measurable business benefits.
* Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop/maintain positive, influential and supportive relationships with senior leaders and internal / external stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to assimilate and translate complex information effectively to and from a wide range of audiences.
* Significant experience in the design and production of data governance processes and related documentation in line with the company assurance framework. Including development of performance reports/tools, production of reporting/insight to to assist in decision making about Performance.
* Exercises good judgment, works proactively on own initiative, knows when to flag issues and when to deal with independently whilst having the ability to prioritise conflicting demands and simultaneous requests to challenging deadlines is desirable.
