A post has become available for a Locum Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to augment our enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated team of consultants.
We would particularly value additional expertise in advanced laparoscopic and endometriosis surgery. The successful applicant will join the endometriosis team at WUTH which is a longstanding specialist centre with accreditation from the British Society of Gynaecology Endoscopy. The service accepts local, regional and national referrals.
The post-holder should ideally hold an RCOG ATSM in advanced laparoscopic surgery for the excision of benign disease and have significant experience in benign gynaecological surgery. In addition to advanced laparoscopic surgical work load the post holder is expected to take part in the general gynaecology case load for both outpatients and inpatients, acute gynaecology provision within Gynaecology Assessment Unit. It would be expected that the post-holder has a leadership qualification and demonstrates a willingness to progress in a leadership role.
The service strives to provide diagnostic and surgical excellence; the post would also include support for the endometriosis service in terms of MDT working alongside radiologists, colorectal and urological surgeons. Support would be given to the successful candidate by the current Endometriosis Lead.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
