We have a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional individual to join us as Head of Housing Management.
The Head of Housing Management role is a new role which has been created to help us on our journey towards being an excellent social landlord. As the Head of Housing Management, you will lead the charge in transforming our housing services, playing a pivotal role in leading and managing a range of critical housing services that directly impact the lives of Southampton’s tenants and leaseholders. You will provide strategic and operational leadership of the Housing Management service which complies with regulatory standards, relevant legislation and Government guidance.
About the role:
You will foster a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement and ensure tenants are placed at the heart of everything that we do.
You will report to the Director of Housing and become a key member of a newly formed Senior management team designed to ensure the council has sufficient expertise and capacity to deliver our vision and objectives.

The role will be challenging; however, it represents an exciting opportunity to play a significant part in shaping the future direction of the Council's landlord function, bringing forward change and modernisation to the service, ensuring we deliver excellent value, high quality customer services set within thriving communities and spaces.
The ideal candidate is someone who will:
1. Strategic Leadership: Significant experience of managing at a senior level in a large, complex organisation in line with the areas of functional responsibility, demonstrating strong leadership.
2. Customer-Centric Focus: Experience of working within a resident empowerment framework, including working to improve services through the Housing Ombudsman framework.
3. Operational Expertise: Significant experience of leading, motivating and managing large teams with confidence, demonstrating flexibility and openness to change, empowering people to deliver effective tenancy and estate management with high quality customer-focused outcomes.
4. Collaboration and Influence: Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with a commitment to partnership and collaboration.
5. Innovation and Vision: A track record of developing creative solutions to improve service delivery.
6. Financial Acumen: Strong budgeting and financial management skills to oversee significant programmes and ensure value for money.
7. Cultural and Political Sensitivity: Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities, coupled with the strong belief in the value of local democracy and community sensitivities.
