We’re looking for a hardworking & creative Demi-Chef de Partie to join the team at The Riverford Field Kitchen—our award-winning farm restaurant in the heart of Devon’s South Hams.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves great food and quality ingredients to work with organic produce, locally sourced and freshly picked from the fields around us.
A Day in the Life of a Riverford Chef
Our menus change daily, driven by the best seasonal produce from the farm. Fresh herbs and experimental crops are picked straight from The Field Kitchen Garden, just 50m from the kitchen.
We time our cooking to serve a set menu to all guests at once, ensuring the veg is at its absolute peak—inspiring diners to recreate dishes at home, hopefully with a Riverford veg box.
For most of the year, we open Wednesday to Sunday, with extra lunch services in school holidays.
Chefs occasionally work in the kitchen garden to better understand the effort behind our produce. We also encourage training, development, and the chance to work Stages in other restaurants during the low season.
More than just a veg box….Riverford are mad about organic veg. It’s at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes, and deliver it to around 70, 000 homes across the UK every week.

Salary £13 per hour plus, a share of tips
This is a Permanent Contract, working 30+ hours per week over 4 days per week, based on the needs of the rota. Weekend and evening availability is essential.
Getting to us… This role is based at The Field Kitchen, Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU.- We’re tucked away in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by fields rather than bus stops. That means you’ll need to live locally and have your own transport to get here.
What You'll Be Doing…
Our dishes are a showcase for the best seasonal veg; we want our customers to experience new and exciting ways of using veg and be inspired to go away and try cooking something different themselves.
The kitchen area is open to our customers so we are really looking for chefs who are bright and personable, that are happy to talk to our customers about the food they have eaten.
Skills & experience..
You will use the experience you have already gained in a professional kitchen to provide support to the kitchen team – preparing food, cooking dishes which fit with the Field Kitchen style of cooking as well as mucking in to make sure the kitchen remains immaculately clean.
