Humanities Teacher
Responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate teacher of Humanities to join our team. This is an exciting role where you will be able to play a key role in building and developing both the school and its curriculum. This role would suit either a secondary school teacher or a teacher with upper primary experience. Experience working with children with SEMH and SEN would also be preferable.
Accountable to:
Heads of School, Deputy Head of School, Associate Head and members of the proprietor body.
Others:
A learning mentor will be assigned for the induction period. This may extend beyond at the discretion of all parties.
Key Task Areas and Responsibilities
1. To plan, deliver and teach individual students or small groups, in accordance with the School’s Curriculum framework and related policies
2. Lead on developing and delivering the humanities curriculum
3. To contribute to and help implement developments that relate to the School Development Plan
4. To promote, in line with Company policies, the physical, educational and moral development of the students
5. To contribute to the development and implementation of an environment and programme of learning for the individual student to ensure progression at an appropriate and satisfactory rate
6. To take responsibility for coordinating the teaching, development, assessment, recording and reporting of subjects and areas of learning across key stages as agreed with the Head of School.
7. To devise, implement and review individual education plans, individual behaviour plans and other relevant individual plans in conjunction with other staff
The Humanities Teacher will have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Strong subject knowledge in Geography, History or RE/RS (multiple subjects would be preferable)
* Previous experience teaching Humanities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
The Humanities Teacher will be:
* Capable of planning and delivering to improve outcomes
* A self-starter capable of creating new ideas and implementing them.
* A strong team player, capable of integrating their own ideas with those in a broader environment.
* Willing to work flexibly in support of students, colleagues and the school
* Flexible, patient, tolerant, and accepting
* Committed to the GRIT values of the School
* Able to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, parents and other external stakeholders.
* Subject to a new enhanced DBS and children's barred check
Place(s) of Work: All places of work are located in North Lincolnshire
Normal Hours of Work: 8.45am to 3.45pm During Term Time
