Job Title: Sustainability Manager (12 month FTC/potential permanent) About the roleSummary Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, the Sustainability Manager (Maternity Cover) role will have a specific focus on internal environmental audits and compliance and will lead on the continued development, administration and implementation of the ISO 14001 aligned Environmental Management System (EMS). The role holder will work closely with and support the Head of Sustainability, with responsibility for developing and co-ordinating environmental policies, positively engaging with internal and external stakeholders and being the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, primarily the Environment Agency. The role holder will provide support as required across the other functions within the Sustainability Team, which covers all areas of the Company's Sustainability Strategy. Duties and Responsibilities To be responsible for the development, ownership, administration, and implementation of the Company’s ISO 14001 aligned Environmental Management System (EMS), including the co-ordination of the Company's Environment Instructions and Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register. Co-ordinate and carry out internal environmental audits, conducting environmental incident investigations and assisting and advising other Company departments and third parties to ensure continued environmental legal compliance and best practice. To develop and co-ordinate sustainability and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring continual environmental improvement. To review environmental legislation and maintain the Company’s legal register for sustainability and environmental legislation. To provide technical advice across the Company on Sustainability Strategy areas and environmental issues, including noise, ecology and biodiversity, water management, waste, climate change adaptation and environmental permitting. To develop and prepare meaningful KPI’s, reporting tools and trend analysis to inform production of sustainability related statistics and monthly performance reports for, including information for MI pack, Board Reports and Community Reports. To co-ordinate environmental impact assessments and pollution/environmental incident investigations for projects or incidents as required. Manage significant budgets and third-party contracts as required. Co-ordinate with other Company departments and be the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies. Chair meetings with internal and external stakeholders and regulators, including the Environmental Management Review Group and Steering Group. Make presentations to community groups and other organisations on the Company’s impact on the local environment and participate in internal and external environmental working groups and parties concerning environmental management. Line-manage the Sustainability Assistant Role, facilitating the role holder to meet yearly objectives and continue to be integrated into the business. Be a credible and effective ambassador for the business. Undertake other duties relevant to the Sustainability Team as directed. A degree in an environmental discipline and experience in a sustainability/ environmental role is essential. Full, clean UK driving licence
