Job summary This is an exciting opportunity to join our apprenticeship programme and train to become a Biomedical Scientist. Upon graduation we strive to have opportunities within the business for you to move into a permanent qualified biomedical scientist position. The starting salary will be £27,006 with all university tuition fees paid for by the organisation. NOTE According to the apprenticeship funding rules, if you do not have a British passport your visa must be valid for the duration of the 4 years. If your visa expires before the apprenticeship ends you would not be eligible for the apprenticeship. NOTE This apprenticeship is not suitable for those that already hold a degree in Biomedical Science or are already HCPC registered as Biomedical Scientist. Main duties of the job You will join the organisation as an apprentice trainee biomedical scientist. During the period of 4 years, you will complete a part-time IBMS (Institute of Biomedical Science) accredited BSc Hons Applied Biomedical Science degree whilst working in one of our pathology laboratories. Youll be supported through a comprehensive training programme to gradually build up your knowledge and skill set to achieve HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registration as a Biomedical scientist via completion of the IBMS Registration Portfolio. Biomedical scientists work in healthcare laboratories diagnosing diseases and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment by analysing fluids and tissue samples from patients. They provide the 'engine room' of modern medicine - 70% of diagnoses in the NHS are based on pathology results provided by laboratory services.
