St Anne’s School and Sixth Form College on Boothferry Road in Hessle is looking for outstanding people to join our exceptional team as Learning Support Assistants across all student age groups (3 to 19 years).
Teamwork is key at St Anne’s. As a school for students with complex medical needs and Severe Learning Difficulties, our Learning Support Assistants provide a vital role in providing a safe and productive learning environment as well as helping students access a range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom. No two days are the same, and you’ll be asked to work as part of a close-knit team alongside the Class Teacher and other professionals either in 1:1 activities or small groups. While mechanical aids are used where practicably possible, there is an element of manual handling involved in the role as is the requirement to assist with personal care, for example: feeding, changing, and toileting.
A warm, caring, and patient personality is essential to work at St Anne’s and you must be able to:
* Show superb communication skills with children, young people, their carers, and other agencies.
* Be proactive and show initiative.
* Plan and prioritise under pressure.
* Be a trustworthy role model in and around our school community.
* Respect and maintain confidentiality whilst adhering to safeguarding principles at all times.
* Demonstrate you really care about children, particularly those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficult.
* Demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and experience transferable to a Special Needs Education setting.
You may not have formal qualifications in education and/or child development (although this would be an advantage), but you will be computer literate, have a good standard of education including passes at GCSE maths and English (or equivalent), and be willing to work towards professional qualifications to further your development and career.
In return, we offer you the chance to join an award-winning school and work with inspiring children, families, and carers.
If this sounds like the role for you, please complete an application form. You must provide at least the last 10 years of employment or education history and explain any gaps, and you must have a legal right to work in the UK. Appointments will be subject to satisfactory disclosure checks at enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Service as well as other background checks including professional references.
Online applications close on 6 January. Applications will be received at the school up until 9 am on 7 January.
Apply by completing the online application form. Ensure the application demonstrates how you meet the essential criteria from the employee specification. CV's will not be accepted for this vacancy.
This school does not have the resources to send individual notifications to all applicants who are not shortlisted, so if you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date, you should assume you have been unsuccessful.
If selected for an interview, an online search will be conducted for candidates. This is in line with KCSiE 2022.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check. The school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. All members of staff are expected to share this commitment.
