We are looking for a PART TIME Receptionist / Administration for our forward-looking and busy GP Practice in Bell Green, Coventry.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, quality-driven individual to help support our clinical staff in providing a high quality medical service.
Main duties will be assisting our patients by attending to them at the Reception desk, managing incoming calls, managing post and electronic communications, whilst also helping with our practice administration. The ideal candidate must be a good team player.
Educated to GCSE level with good grades in English and Maths. We rely heavily on information technology for our systems; the candidate must have good computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet. A knowledge of using EMIS will be a distinct advantage, but training will be available for the right candidate.
The core hours are Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 6.30 pm. You may also be required to work at our main site to cover staff sickness/leave.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure an effective and efficient Reception service is provided to patients and any visitors to the practice.
* Direct and signpost to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and appointments booking processes.
* Process appointment requests for the current day/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person and actively process home visits requests.
* Keep the Reception area and Waiting Room area notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
* Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, and ensure procedures are completed.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Enter patient information onto the computer as required.
* Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the partners or the practice manager.
About us
Longford Primary Care Centre / Bell Green Health Centre is a member of Skywards PCN. We have two GP Partners who work with a large multi-skilled clinical team consisting of Nurses, Physicians Associates, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, and Physiotherapists.
We also have an experienced administration team covering both sites and we are a host site for Extended Access offering care to our patients in the evenings and on weekends.
Our practice is high achieving in QOF and has a Good CQC rating.

Administration
* Have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
* Work in accordance with written protocols.
* Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary.
* Filing post in medical records.
* Photocopy/scan as requested.
Reception
* Receive patients and consult with members of the practice team.
* Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients and check names and addresses.
* Cover all reception positions as necessary.
Appointments
* Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
* Deal with visits/requests.
Computer
* Register new patients, computer data entry, and medical records.
* Process patients' changes of address in computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
Telephone
* Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep systems, during and after hours.
* Cover for telephonist when necessary.
Other Tasks
* Ensure building security; have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
* Any other tasks allocated by managers.
