Engineering Stores Officer
£31,466.21 per annum (90%) initial training rate
Responsibilities
The Engineering Stores Officer is part of a small Engineering Team, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The role is to operate and maintain an effective Engineering Stores service to meet the needs of the business, as well as providing additional services across the whole of the site including assistance to the Site Services Supervisor and the rest of the Engineering Team, including planning and scheduling of engineering activity. The position would suit a self-motivated individual, ideally from an engineering background and will involve physical and active work in all areas of the site.
Key Accountabilities
1. To receive, store and issue stock and non-stock items.
2. To control stock with a high level of accuracy, working with site engineers to ensure adjustments are made to stock as appropriate.
3. To operate a stock checking system both within the stores and across the site to ensure accuracy of stock.
4. To prepare and issue documentation to suppliers of goods and services.
5. To liaise with external suppliers to expedite material deliveries and engineering overhaul activity.
6. To maintain accurate paper and computerised systems to enable effective running of the department.
7. To ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained within the department.
8. Identify cost savings where possible and progress to implementation.
9. To assist Site Services Supervisor in achieving departmental and site objectives.
10. To assist with planning, preparation, and scheduling of engineering tasks.
11. To be aware of and support compliance with health, safety and environment rules, procedures, and legislation amongst BYK employees and contractors.
12. To conduct contractor inductions and maintain all relevant levels.
13. To ensure risk assessments and other safety assessments and inspections are completed for non-routine and routine activities.
14. To issue work permits as required and carry out safety equipment inspections in own area of responsibility.
15. To understand the requirements of the site quality management system and ensure they are met.
16. To be flexible in duties as needed in the role to support the business.
