Our opportunity
As a Senior Engineering Manager you will lead a functional team providing technical capability to Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to successfully deliver engineering activities to requirements, schedule, budget and quality.
This role would suit an aspirational leader with demonstrable experience in delivering talent, performance and succession as well as leading and developing a high performance team culture.
Key responsibilities in this role include:
* Leadership and performance management of functional team of up to 10 senior engineers / managers
* Create a culture for development, innovation and continuous improvement through setting stretching goals for self and teams, rewarding high performance
* Ensure lessons learnt and best practice are shared across the business to support continuous improvement and consistency
* Promote and drive team adherence to company values, processes and procedures
* Make timely decisions considering risk and business performance, and act promptly to mobilise resources and team to resolve issues
* Define and maintain appropriate team reporting to support business performance
* Lead regular team meetings to share feedback including performance and metrics
* Allocate appropriate resources to successfully deliver work packages or projects
* Conduct Professional Development Reviews and support development of team - Identify development needs and opportunities and provide coaching / training to develop technical capability
* Weekly and Monthly reporting on task progress, issues / blockers, transformation / improvements, risks / uncertainty and resourcing capability
* Support formal project reviews and functional guidance across the business unit
* Finance management of functional budget
* Deliver functional performance to support company financial objectives
* Agree functional budget and monitor expenditure to meet outputs
* Produce, or review and approve engineering technical documents
* Produce, or review and approve technical specifications for sub-contract suppliers
Apply if you have most of the following:
* Qualified to degree level in Engineering or Apprenticeship with sufficient experience in the field of electrical engineering or relevant transferrable skills
* Proven Leadership experience including line management experience, developing and leading high performance teams and creating a high performance culture
* A varied and broad range of understanding engineering principles
* Working across a varied group of stakeholders across a range of disciplines
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with energy and enthusiasm at all levels within and outside of the business
* Good IT skills, including Word and Excel
* Awareness of legislation applicable to the function
