Job Title: Operational Technology (OT) Engineer

Overview:
Our client is seeking an Operational Technology Engineer to join their manufacturing site in Plymouth. Reporting to the OT Lead, this role will be responsible for maintaining and developing the technology systems that support their production operations. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring these systems remain secure, compliant, and effective.

Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of OT assets, identifying risks and ensuring up-to-date records.
* Support updates and improvements to the site’s OT network infrastructure, aligning with cybersecurity policies.
* Lead local project work related to systems and equipment, including risk assessments and policy compliance.
* Ensure accurate device recognition and management in line with OT security protocols.
* Deliver cybersecurity awareness and policy training, enabling staff to safely and efficiently use OT systems.
* Evaluate third-party vendors for risk, oversee critical patching, test whitelisted applications, and manage system updates.
* Investigate the root causes of OT system failures and implement corrective actions.
* Oversee change management processes for OT systems, ensuring testing, approvals, and documentation follow the client's standard methodology.
* Generate reports and insights using Business Intelligence tools to support business decisions.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper use of technology and systems.
* Take part in continuous learning and professional development relevant to the role.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Degree (First or Upper Second-Class Honours) in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience supported by HND/HNC qualifications.
* Relevant experience in a regulated manufacturing setting, ideally within medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
* Understanding of change control procedures within a quality-regulated environment.
* Hands-on experience with industrial control systems, software, and networking technologies.
* Strong working knowledge of enterprise IT, network protocols, and how they interact with operational systems.
* Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, network schematics, and site layouts.
* Competency in analysing large, complex datasets to derive meaningful insights.
* Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Omron PLC systems is advantageous, though not essential.
