Are you an experienced Band 7 OT looking for a change or challenge? Or possibly a band 6 who would like to take the lead within our team?
We are looking for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist, with the relevant skills in rehabilitation and management, to join our established team in Wokingham Community Hospital. Windsor and Ascot wards are community physical health inpatient wards, caring for adults with a wide variety of sub-acute medical and surgical conditions, providing rehabilitation.
The role if for a fixed term of 1 year and although asking for full time would consider part time down to 30 hours per week. This post will suit someone with leadership experience,butequallymight appeal to someone looking to develop their leadership skills.
The unit is based in Wokingham close to shops and public transport for easy commuting. Wokingham Community Hospital staff are eligible for ‘fringe London weighting’ under agenda for change, which equates to an additional 5% of your basic NHS salary, and free parking on our hospital site.
Main duties of the job
Are you passionate about working with patients with complex needs to support their independence and function?
The post holder will have a range of Occupational Therapy skills and experience, be well organised and will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality service as part of the MDT. The post involves working alongside the Inpatient Services Manager and Therapy Lead and is a mix of both a clinical case load and the management of junior colleagues. This requires someone with effective communication skills, a flexible approach, and an ability to work under pressure, both as part of a multi-disciplinary team and independently.
There is a strong professional leadership structure within our organisation, and you will be supported by the Therapy Lead in Community inpatients, the Inpatient Services Manager, and the Occupational Therapy Professional Lead.
The role includes;
* Supported management of the occupational therapy and wider therapy tea
* Promoting patient independence and discharge
* Actively taking part in and leading, board rounds and improvement huddles etc
* Communicating with key stakeholders and carers outside of the service

* An Occupational Therapy Degree/Diploma with HCPC registration and experience in rehabilitation.
* Must be able to drive and have access to use of a car for patient’s home access.

* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* State Registration
* BAOT Membership

Continuous Professional Development
* Post-graduate training in a relevant clinical speciality such as: Accredited courses in Cognitive impairment & Accreditation of practise Educators (Apple)
Previous Experience
* Highly specialist knowledge of Occupational Therapy in management of patients with highly complex conditions
* Understanding national policies /guidelines relevant to the area National Service Frameworks for falls, stroke, mental health
* Knowledge and participation in clinical governance relevant to this clinical area and to Occupational
* Knowledge of audit and research
