Role: Agile Delivery Manager - Cloud
Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: £55,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role purpose:
Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of IT services projects, focusing on the successful delivery of hyperscale cloud infrastructure solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, as well as the ability to manage complex technical projects from inception to completion. The Delivery Manager will work closely with engineering leads, ensuring that all project activities, including planning, testing, deployment, and go-live, are meticulously documented, executed, and delivered on time.
Key responsibilities:
* Full Project Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of IT services projects, from initial scoping and planning through to final delivery and operational handover.
- Ensure that all project milestones are met and that the project is delivered within scope, time, and budget constraints.
* End-to-End Technical Delivery:
- Take full ownership of the technical delivery of projects, including resource planning, budget management, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with engineering leads to define project deliverables, set milestones, and allocate resources effectively.
- Manage and maintain project delivery plans for engineering-led initiatives, tracking time, effort, costs, risks, and issues.
* Agile Methodology Implementation:
- Apply Agile delivery methods, including sprint and release planning, to ensure efficient and flexible project execution.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning sessions.
- Coach and mentor team members and other stakeholders on Agile principles and practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Team Organization and Planning:
- Create and maintain high-performing teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborative, and aligned with project goals.
- Organize and plan team activities, ensuring that tasks are clearly defined, prioritized, and managed effectively.
- Track and report on team progress, identifying and addressing any blockers or issues that may impact delivery.
* Reporting and Stakeholder Communication:
- Provide regular and detailed reporting to Engineering Management and senior stakeholders, ensuring transparency on project status, risks, and issues.
- Present project updates, including progress, risks, and financials, to C-level executives and other key stakeholders.
* Risk and Issue Management:
- Identify potential project risks and issues, developing and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Maintain a continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, and managing uncertainty.
- Ensure that contingency plans are in place and are regularly reviewed.
* Quality Assurance:
- Emphasize quality, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and are aligned with customer expectations.
- Conduct regular reviews and retrospectives to identify opportunities for process improvement.
* Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Address customer concerns promptly, ensuring that any issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
* Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging the adoption of best practices and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in cloud technologies, Agile methodologies, and project management practices.
- Implement feedback loops to drive ongoing enhancements to delivery processes.
Skills and experience:
* Enthusiasm for hyperscale cloud infrastructure, with a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
* A positive, creative, and collaborative approach to technical problem-solving.
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including colleagues in Security, Applications, and Infrastructure.
* Proven experience in managing IT projects using Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies, with a strong focus on Agile.
* Relevant Agile qualifications such as PMI-ACP, AgilePM, or PRINCE2 Agile are highly desired.
* Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong emphasis on quality and meeting deadlines.
* Broad understanding of technology, with the ability to liaise effectively with technical teams across various disciplines.
* Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and integrate them into project delivery plans.
