You will be taking a proactive role in supporting the Senior Procurement Managers in all areas of work, from tendering and contract negotiation to interacting with all levels of Trust colleagues and supporting them with their projects.
Main duties of the job
Works directly with the Operational Head of Procurement, Deputy Head of Procurement and Senior Procurement Managers (SPMs) to ensure that a cost effective purchasing/contracts work programme is developed and maintained to achieve the key objectives of the department and Trust. May also be required to provide assistance to SPMs in other work streams, i.e. non clinical, as necessary which may feed into divisional cost saving initiatives, improvement to patient care or productivity efficiencies.
To develop strong customer/stakeholder relationships in order to meet customer requirements by demonstrating best value for money, compliance with category priorities and contracts, and by supporting the development of key strategies for supplier and contract management.
The post holder will investigate some complex procurement enquiries, provide advice to stakeholders or suppliers and contribute to corporate reporting as required.
The post forms an integral part of the Finance Team.

Person specification
Experience
* Understanding of procurement in large organisations including demand management, sourcing, purchasing, material management and delivery and distribution.
* Proven experience of sourcing projects, tendering, negotiation and procurement processes, contract management with demonstrable achievements.
* Experience of small to medium (£10K-£1M) service contracts and outsourcing projects.
* Understanding Purchase 2 Pay (P2P) and invoice processes.
* 2 years procurement experience.
Skills
* Work independently and under pressure.
* Ability to prepare, analyse and interpret financial data using appropriate IT systems and software.
* Ability to vary influencing styles to deal with members of the organisation and external stakeholders.
* Negotiation skills and evidence of negotiations and contracts.
* Good decision making skills and ability to utilise various professional tools and techniques in the process.
* Understanding ethical sourcing and green procurement routes and processes.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the NHS Improvement current policy and guidelines and initiatives.
* Ability to use computer systems and Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) in order to generate professional reports, complex spreadsheets and presentations.
* Knowledge of specification and contract development.
* Understanding and working knowledge of PCR 2015/PA 2023 and up-to-date contract law.
* Understanding key finance concepts and models.
* Competent use of commercial procurement, finance packages and e-tendering systems (e.g. Atamis, GHX, Oracle, etc).
Qualifications
* GCSE in Mathematics and English.
* Member of (or working towards) the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), or NVQ Level 4 qualified.
* Educated to degree level.
