Position Overview The Talent Manager coordinates and manages all aspects of one of the Firm’s offices, including recruitment of trainee solicitors in London and administration of trainee solicitor programme. In addition, Talent Manager will serve as firmwide lead and administrator for specific talent management responsibilities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Recruitment of trainee solicitors in London (in conjunction with training principal) • Co-ordinate law fair participation • Liaise with providers such as LawCareers.Net and Chambers & Partners Student about publications • Manage recruitment materials • Review applications for vacation placements and trainee applicants • Interview vacation placement candidates • Administer vacation placement scheme • Make offers to candidates Administration of trainee solicitor programme (in conjunction with training principal) • Running the induction process for trainee solicitors • Regular supervision (monthly meetings, leading training sessions) • Participate in six monthly appraisals, including soliciting feedback from associates/partners and preparing evaluations • Assist with qualification assessment and placement of associates following conclusion of training contract Talent Management in London (and include international offices if required) • Co-ordinate mentoring of associates • Participate in associate appraisal process (including liaising with associates and partners in relation to the preparation of appraisal forms, prepare summary forms for appraisals, follow up after meetings) • Assist with general talent management, including being a point of contact for associate concerns • Assist to ensure all firm policies relating to the trainee solicitors and London/international associates up to date, ensure compliance with best practice • Assist with secondment agreements, leaves of absences etc. • Assist with recruitment of associates and partners (in conjunction with lateral hire partner) • Prepare summaries of candidate before interview and summarise feedback post interview • Liaise with partners in relation to recruitment needs • Review applicants’ CVs • Participate in interviews where necessary • Act as first point of contact for recruitment agents and be responsible for agreed terms and conditions between V&E and the agents • Oversee the induction process for associates • Assist in the process of the departure of any associate, including exit interview • Preliminary review and analysis of employment law issues • Liaise with outside counsel on employment law advice • Assist Compliance Committee where appropriate • Attend AAC meetings and set up agendas for meetings Secondary Duties and Responsibilities Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education\: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience\: Three years progressively responsible experience in a law firm or similar environment required; substantial exposure to recruiting and/or professional development in a law firm preferred. Special Knowledge\: Organizational development, diversity and inclusion and career counseling. Technical Skills\: Knowledge of Firm computer software. Attributes\: Exceptional communication and organizational skills; ability to work with a team of highly-skilled professionals in situations that require diplomacy and confidentiality; detail-oriented; financial and statistical reporting skills; relationship building skills; people and project management skills. Other Qualifications\: Ability to manage people and maintain a good rapport with various personnel at all levels. Working Conditions Occasional travel and ability to work late hours.
