Data and Analytics is key to the success of any retailer and WHSmith is investing and putting analytical innovation at the centre of its business strategy. The role of a BI Analyst will be supporting all areas of the travel organisation with their decisions by providing a range of analytical products.
We are looking for a curious person who can support the organisation with insights derived from the data asset and influence commercial change. The output will range from the production of dashboards to ad-hoc insights to more complex pieces of analytics. This key role would be a great step for any analyst looking to influence key commercial decision makers and build experience of building analytical products in a fast-moving retailer.
What you’ll do:
* Plan, design and implement effective dashboards and visualisations as the business transitions to a more automated reporting approach.
* Take on the role of a superuser and become a key contact for the wider business to create ad-hoc reports and analysis, while continually improving the quality of data insight in existing reports.
* Work closely with the trading teams to provide ad-hoc analysis, such as insight into trials, promotional changes and detailed variance analysis, all presented in a clear and understandable manner.
* Develop the weekly Trading Pack, supporting ad-hoc requests and iteration of the pack to meet business needs.
* Develop and maintain an interactive portal for 3rd parties to access WHSmith commercial data, delivering income for the business.
* Provide ad hoc support to business teams on analysis, forecasting and format development.
* Ideate and build analytical products using appropriate mathematical and statistical rigour.
* Manage technical and non-technical stakeholders and end-users, owning the end-to-end delivery of BI products.
Who you are:
* Strong analytical background with experience using SQL.
* Experience creating reports and analytics in a reporting tool, such as Power BI or similar.
* Curious and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills.
* Confident communicator with the ability to articulate and influence the output of your analysis and challenge both the approach and results where necessary.
* Proactive self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced and changing environment with an eye for detail.
* Great stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills.
