Wise Employment are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer (Food)for an expanding, exciting and well established company based in the Plymouth area. You will need to have buying experience within a background of food related products.
(Very competitive Salary DOE and benefits package). This role will be working Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5.30pm and offers 21 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays), long service awards, cycle to work scheme and an employee discount scheme.
As a Food Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing new products and categories, develop relationships with suppliers and negotiate competitive prices along with overall pushing your category forward.
What your day will look like as a Food Buyer:
You will be primarily responsible for maximising sales, margin and profitability within a fast moving and diverse category. Your days will vary from day to day allowing you to have ultimate responsibility for the implementation and evaluation of the product strategy and ensuring that the business is meeting the customer needs. Using your creative mind and forward way of thinking, you will need to monitor and review competitor, information therefore, you, will need to come up with new ideas to ensure your product offering stays relevant in a changing market. By working with your team you need to play a lead role within reviews, supplier negotiations, promotions and pricing.

Experience Required for the Food Buyer role:
You will need to have buyer experience and it is essential to have experience within the food related industry.
You will have proven relationship building experience of influencing both internal and external stakeholders
You will need excellent organisational skills with strong market and commercial awareness
You will need to have excellent ability to communicate with various suppliers and employees making you an excellent team player in a fast paced environment.
