An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse specialist to join the Colorectal Cancer team. We have 2x one year fixed term positions, one based in the south and one in the north. Please specify site preference on your application form.
You will receive excellent training, development and support and will provide nursing and clinical support for the specialty.
You will ideally have a background in oncology or gasteroenterology. You will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and you will be involved in the delivery of specialist colorectal cancer nursing care.
As the posts are one year fixed term in a specialist area, this is a great development opportunity for any nurses who would like to come and experience working as a clinical nurse specialist to increase their knowledge and skills. We will accept secondments from internal candidates with the approval of your manager., The post holder will work as a clinical nurse specialist delivering an expert, specialist service to patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The role includes developing, implementing and evaluating a seamless specialist service ensuring that patient with cancer colorectal receive the highest standard of clinical care and have access to the full resources of the multidisciplinary team whilst receiving all aspects of treatment.
This will be achieved through clinical practice, management of patient caseload, education, research, audit and professional activities relating to colorectal cancer care.
The post-holder will be expected to attend and actively participate in the colorectal MDT and will have a close working relationship with the wider multidisciplinary team. This post will involve supporting the existing CNS team.
The post-holder will promote safe, competent and evidence based practice, in line with national objectives and within the clinical governance framework.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
