As a key part of our IT Operations team, the Network Engineer will play a vital role in maintaining, enhancing, and securing the Cabot Group’s IT infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for proactively managing our network estate—from switching, routers, and firewalls to wireless and WAN connectivity—ensuring top-tier performance, scalability, and security. Beyond day-to-day operations, you’ll drive initiatives to prevent critical outages, protecting our business from financial and reputational risks. Key responsibilities include:
* Solution implementation under the guidance and support of the Network Team Leader.
* Systems & Data Security and Risk Management
* Growth & Capacity Planning
* Event, Incident and Problem Management
* Preventative maintenance, including patching and upgrades.
We are looking for someone with:
* 1 – 3 years’ experience working within a technical support role / project delivery role
* Recognised IT qualifications e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, WCNA, CIISP, PCNSA, PCNSE
* Experience of Cisco enterprise switching & routing infrastructure
* Competent in the configuration and use of monitoring solutions – e.g. Solarwinds.
* Experience of Meraki WLAN solutions, for seamless cross site services and guest/corporate user segregation.
* Experience of VPN & 2 factor authentication mechanisms to deliver controlled 3rd party/remote access.
* Experience of managing both physical and virtual firewall infrastructure & rule base controls in the Palo Alto ecosystem.
* Working knowledge of NSX-T
* Working knowledge of PSTN SIP Services and SBCs (desired)
* An understanding of DR/BCP business processes.
