At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
You have a passion for data protection and transparency, have excellent customer relationship skills, an organised and disciplined approach, enjoy working with other likeminded individuals - as well as being able to work on your own? If this is you, then we have a role for you!
About the Role
We are recruiting for two Information Governance Officers. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of day to day Information Governance services to a neighbouring local authority. Specifically, you will be responsible for maintaining the allocation of Data Protection and Freedom of Information (FOI) / Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) queries and requests, whilst liaising with directorate leads, providing advice, completing reviews of client operations in relation to Information Governance, analysis of risks and levels of compliance and preparation of reports with action and improvement plans. There is potential for you to help support our Information Governance services to our other external commercial clients such as schools, academies, Multi-Academy Trusts and Town/Parish Councils.
About You
Ideally, we are looking for individuals who have a background in Information Governance, including those with IT or Data Protection, FOI/EIR, Information Security, or Records Management experience. However, we welcome applications from those with good administration skills and a passion and drive in this ever-expanding area of work. We offer extensive training opportunities available to you in the Information Governance field to further your development and the quality of service we provide.
The role is rewarding, and you will be working with a high performing team (under the supervision of a Senior Information Governance Officer) who want to provide excellence in service delivery. We offer a supportive flexible work/life balance, including working at home with the latest technology. Our main offices are the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away. There are also opportunities to be based at our other council offices in the Guildhall, Bath and in The Hollies, Midsomer Norton, as well our client’s base in Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare.
