About the Role:
As a Rent Arrears Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring our tenants have the support they need to manage their rent payments and avoid arrears. You’ll be working closely with tenants, offering solutions, and providing guidance to help them stay on track with their rent, while maintaining a positive and empathetic approach.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage rent arrears for a caseload of tenants, proactively contacting them to offer support and discuss payment options.
* Conduct home visits to discuss arrears and offer guidance on budgeting, financial support, and payment plans.
* Negotiate payment plans and provide tenants with advice on how to reduce their arrears.
* Work closely with other departments (e.g., tenancy management and income collection) to deliver a seamless service.
* Maintain accurate records of all communication with tenants and update systems regularly.
* Ensure compliance with housing association policies and procedures while promoting positive relationships with tenants.
* In event of non payment attend court
* Attend evictions when required
What We're Looking For:
* Experience in a customer service or housing-related role, ideally in social housing or income management.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage difficult situations in a calm and professional manner.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload of tenants effectively.
* A proactive approach to resolving rent arrears issues and an interest in supporting tenants.
* A good understanding of rent collection procedures or a willingness to learn.
