Who You Are We are seeking a qualified and experienced planning officer with recent experience in Development Management at a Local Planning Authority. Essential skills include the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, write clear reports, and work collaboratively with team members. An up-to-date knowledge of planning legislation and proficient use of IT packages are advantageous. Possession of a MRTPI or related degree is required, as is a current driving licence. What the Job Involves Your main responsibilities will include handling various types of planning applications, presenting the council's case at appeals, and providing pre-application advice to applicants. You will attend meetings, investigate reports of planning control breaches, and contribute to the development plan, heritage, and urban design sections as needed. The role involves both office attendance and site visits, with support for home working part of the week. You will also lead or support complex local inquiries, mentor junior staff, and manage or contribute to specialist projects depending on your grade within the career structure.
