The Health and Development Practitioners is part of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Team working with and under the guidance of the caseload holders undertaking development assessments for infants in accordance with the healthy child programme. Supporting families with issues such as infant feeding, moving to solid foods, behaviour, sleep and participating in child health clinics.
Main duties of the job
1. To work as part of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Team, assisting with supporting families by delivering packages of care under the direction of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nurse (-9months -11), in the home and in community settings including for example Children's Centres and Early Years Settings.
2. To carry out developmental reviews, group work activities, health promotion and health education programmes as delegated by members of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Team.
3. Contribute to child protection case conferences, core groups and case review meetings under supervision of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nurse.
4. To support the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nurse in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme.
5. To support parents who wish to breast feed, enabling them to do so in line with local policy and National Guidance, offering early support as required.

Person Specification
Suitability
* Maths and English GCSE - Minimum grade C or equivalent.
* Professional Childcare Knowledge - NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
Job Role
* Good Understanding of Child Development.
* Understanding of the infant brain and attachment.
* Understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures.
* Full Valid Driving License and access to a Vehicle.
Preferred
* Good Understanding of IT systems including Systm1.
* Understanding of Public Health Issues.
* Understanding of Infant Feeding including BFI.
