Job summary
We’d love to hear from you if you are passionate about playing a critical part in keeping the Port running smoothly.
This role would suit someone with an established technical background, who is ready to develop broader skills in people management and strategic decision-making.
• Lead, co-ordinate and develop a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical guidance, support, oversight for project, maintenance and inspection works.
• Act as an ‘internal consultant’, undertaking design & assessments of new and existing assets, relevant to your technical discipline.
• Develop long term maintenance and replacement strategies for the Port’s asset base. Take a keen interest in emerging design and construction methodologies, material technologies, and inspection techniques, to drive innovation and efficiency.
• Ensure that inspections and assessments are undertaken and that required actions are implemented to ensure that our assets remain safe for operational use.
• Under your guidance, your team will help define & maintain technical standardds, and you will assist in undertaking design assurance activities, reviewing technical submissions, providing guidance and advice to project & maintenance teams on technical & quality matters.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that engineering solutions, designs and specifications align. Prepare technical guidance for the business, providing support and guidance to both technical and non-technical audiences, to ensure safe use of the Port’s assets.
Skills and Qualifications
▪ Bachelors/Masters degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or similar equivalent
▪ Chartered or working towards Chartered/Incorporated Member of appropriate engineering/technical institution/professional body.
▪ Demonstrable experience of managing design processes, or developing asset maintenance strategies.
▪ Experience of managing a team or direct reports using a collaborative approach
▪ Understanding of CDM regulations
▪ Hold a valid UK driving licence.
